For us, sustainability is not just a buzzword – it has been a lived practice for more than 50 years. As a medium-sized family business, we take responsibility for future generations and meet the challenges of climate protection, energy efficiency, and resource conservation with consistent action.

We are convinced: only those who act in an ecological, economical, and social way are fit for the future. That is why sustainability is firmly anchored in our corporate strategy. Every area – from product development and production to logistics – is committed to using energy and raw materials responsibly.

Sustainable production and resource conservation 

As a manufacturing company, we are well aware of our impact on the environment and climate. That is why we rely on sustainable production “made in Germany” that reduces emissions, saves energy, and reuses raw materials. 

At our production site in Gevelsberg, targeted investments have improved energy efficiency by more than 60 percent over the past ten years – a figure that sets benchmarks in our energy‑intensive industry.

Our projects to increase energy efficiency 

The implemented measures include, among others:

• Conversion of the entire office and hall lighting to energy‑saving LED systems from our own product range 
• Installation of a highly efficient compressor system with heat recovery 
• Use of modern, controllable Vacutec pumps in production 
• Optimized production planning that reduces setup and downtime and significantly lowers scrap rates 
• Installation of a state‑of‑the‑art cooling system for our production water 
• Current energy‑efficient refurbishment of the administration building and parts of the production halls

Another important step: we source 100% of our electricity from renewable energies and thus avoid additional CO₂ emissions.

Uniquely sustainable: from production to recycling 

In addition, we operate an industry‑leading recycling concept: production waste as well as leftover pieces from our customers made of PVC and PC/ABS are fully fed back into the production cycle. Our customers benefit twice – they not only protect the environment, but also receive a recycling certificate at the end of the year for their own environmental balance.

New habitats for rare animal and plant species 

Biodiversity is also close to our hearts: together with the initiative Artenglück, we are transforming an unused plot of land on our company premises into a near‑natural habitat. In doing so, we give something back to nature and at the same time make a valuable contribution to preserving biodiversity.

Sustainability as a competitive factor 

Economy and ecology go hand in hand at Licatec. By investing in energy‑efficient technologies, we improve not only our environmental performance but also our economic efficiency. Sustainable production means lower energy consumption, reduced costs, and greater independence from rising energy prices – advantages that also benefit our customers and business partners.

Another forward‑looking step is the introduction of a voluntary sustainability report in accordance with the VSME standard. In 2026 we will, for the first time, transparently document for the 2025 financial year the progress we have made in the field of sustainability. In doing so, we build trust, present measurable results, and set clear targets for the coming years.

Responsibility for people and society 

For us, sustainability also means taking responsibility for the people who carry and surround our company. As a family‑owned business, we value secure jobs, fair conditions, and the continuous development of our employees. Training, health protection, and a respectful working environment are just as self‑evident to us as work–life balance. Beyond our company, we also engage beyond our own borders. By supporting regional initiatives, social projects, and ecological measures, we help make our region a better place to live. For us, sustainability is therefore always also about social cooperation – within the company and in society at large.

Sustainability at Licatec is a comprehensive concept: ecological through consistent CO₂ reduction, economic through long‑term investments, and social through responsibility for people and society. 

The results of our measures speak for themselves: more than 60% energy savings over the past ten years, full recycling of production waste, and 100% renewable electricity. 

We are convinced that sustainability is not an end point, but an ongoing process. That is why we work day by day to make our company, our products, and our processes even more sustainable.
